Boing

Spring seems to have sprung finally and everything feels fresher and optimistic. Definitely my favourite time of year.

Well, back from Canada and great to be back home in Moseley. I have got over the jet lag so now able to focus on clickityworld and drive it forward. It has been great to get all the feedback on the site and I have taken a lot of that on board with it's current look and future plans. One of the big additions has been to create a link-up with Twitter and enable updates when news, planning, important events etc., happen. A great way to keep up-to-date with things remotely.

This current 'credit crunch/crisis' seems to increasingly be focusing peoples minds back to living a little more within one's means with the knock-on effect of perhaps us not being so wasteful, more 'make-do-and-mend', lots of articles on 'growing-your-own', more thoughts to sustainable living, lots of food and recipe features in the papers and I think a desire to use local resources more. Whether that is to shop in the neighbourhood that you live, swap skills to save money, use local parks instead of the gym membership and local entertainment instead of looking wider afield. It'll be interesting to see if this is a longer-term trend which would tie-in perfectly with our need to live 'greener' and not be so wasteful with the limited resources we have. Time will tell.

Well, currently two-thirds of the way into the initial three-month Beta phase of the website which has been an interesting fact-finding period. From content style, banner effectiveness, different marketing techniques and effectiveness, making contact with local businesses and organisations along with some great feedback and comments. This has all enabled us to 'tighten-up' the moseley site to help local moseley visitors and beyond to find what they need to as quickly as possible....and perhaps a bit more. Currently working on the user-generated content side of things and hopefully I will have more news on that soon.

Also the long-term plan has always been to roll-out a template of the Moseley site to enable other communities to have a focal, local resource with all information in one place and easy-to-find but without the crazy 'franchise fees' and monthly ongoing costs that other sites may have demanded. We foot all the costs of development, hosting, domain registration etc. enabling the local editor to collate information and publish. We have had interest from local community organisations who wish to run an area and we are pursuing this avenue of expansion but we also have interested 'local editors' who can see the value and opportunity to make a difference using the clickityworld model. Will keep you updated via here.

Also if you have any thoughts or suggestions on what you would like to see on the site we would always love to hear them.

Thanks for dropping by.
